You guys make me feel very primitive. When I fish down the peninsula along the road system I still use my Orvis magnetic rod carrier circa 1993...........
This is it a few years ago crossing the Denali Highway with my old PM-10 nine foot 5 weight on it.
Pretty crude compared to what you are looking at
Rods are held by elastic cords
Tips too
Back in Pennsylvania I used to fish during the green drake hatch on some large creeks that had roads running alongside them and the rod rack was perfect for moving along the streams to locate the hatch night to night.
It was also handy when I went up to fish the Salmon River in NY state. You could put rigged rods on the rack and save time while other guys were assembling rods, tying on flies etc. It saw use during trout, salmon and steelhead fishing back east until I moved away. I'd say that I've used it everywhere I fished when using a car or truck. Here it is limited to the peninsula but I still use it when I go there.
I know the new technology is a lot better than my old stick on rack but since I spotted this thread you all have to suffer through another of my "I keep stuff forever" posts
