Re: Prince of Wales Island
There were certainly bears there , as well as rain. It isn't cheap, a loaf of bread and a half gallon of milk was over $11 in Coffman Cove. We camped in a small place, and all 12 sites were on the water. Cell phone access was from a gravel pit about 18 miles down the road with a shot at the mainland. They just got electric in Coffman Cove a year ago, so they could shut the generators down. If you took a boat there, the good news is that you could dock it for about $50/month. Gas was high. If you fished offshore with downriggers there in July, you could fill a chest freezer in a week.
It was fun fly fishing along the road and probably later in Aug or Sept would be more prime time for cohos, but different fish at different times.
