Default Nate Bailey and the Williamson

I just got back into fly fishing after a 12 year hiatus and on the advice of another post on this forum, booked a trip with Nate Bailey. I learned some great techniques, my casting improved and I caught some big trout. The hex hatch just before dark was amazing, and Nate's flies brought a lot of fish up.
There were quite a few other boats on the river, and from the looks of things it was a tough day in general, but we were into fish all day long. Nate really knows the river and a lot of the history of the area. It was a great day and I am already planning my next trip.

Nate, and his entire family, are folks you are privileged to know. That carries over into his Guiding; even on a bad day you will enjoy the trip/time spent. As for that particular river I think he grew up on the banks of same (or darned close) so I suspect he has 'pet names' for most of the rocks on the river bottom.

Remember well (many years back at this point) when I introduced him to 2hander rods. I think it took about 20 minutes before he was 'blasting out casts.' Truth be told, I suspect he's a better caster than me at this point.

But, what t he hell, he's half my age.

Fred, it was your response to a question that alerted me to Nate. I thank you for that.

He let me try a Spey rod and the few times I did it correctly it felt effortless. I can see one in my future.

I love and miss the Williamson. Such an incredible fishery with chance of hooking into 20# class rainbow, with a 4 - 8# average. Before it opens in the spring, you can stand on the hwy97 bridge watching the biggest trout you've ever seen feeding on the mothers day caddis hatch
