Default Last Day for Trout Season in California

Just a reminder for California fly fishers. The last day for trout season in many districts is Sunday, November 15. Keep in mind, some bodies of water will be open throughout the winter with special regulations. Please check the regs book for those listed bodies of water.

Man, that would suck to have a season on trout. But I guess what is ever best for the resource is what is best.

Luckily for me the streams that I do fish in my area do not have season's. The lower Owens is open all year, well sections of it are and I believe the upper Kern is still open year round. But it's still best to check the regs wherever you decide to go fishing.. Some forests have been known to close due to fire season.

I'm sooooo happy they changed the regs on some waters around here. Some waters still close down but my favs stay open year round.

I live in the Valley District. I'll be spending my time on the Lower Yuba and the Lower American which are year round fisheries. I will try to spend time on the mid-elevation forks of the American River that have winter regs.

I may do one of my multi-sport days when I visit friends in Truckee. Bike for an hour in the morning. Ski three or four hours. Then fish for two hours on the Big T. I did that a few times last year.

The Truckee has very low flow right now, still some good fishing, but you gotta find your spots

Mr Pesador, Iv'e come to the conclusion that some smaller waters are happier when rested over winter. (The LT is a good example.) I'm also begining to think we should walk the Big T sometime. Let me know.
