No guyfisher, but I'd like to see the answers too. I know that DFG won't stock it until 2010 awaiting an environmental impact study. There was an article (can't remember where) saying that it shouldn't impact fishing this year, but definitely would if extended additional years. I can't imagine it not affecting fishing this year. I used to live on the Kern River so it's still special to me. I'd walk down and fish it every eve. Good memories.

I can't reasonably walk to the river from my house but there is public access to it about a mile from my home and I can see it from my back yard. I rarely fish the below Isabella Dam, but will be traveling to the upper sections once the season opens. I have been told for years there is good small mouth fishing in the lower sections of the canyon, but I've never fished for them.

I lived in Bodfish so did most of my fishing below the lake. That's when the Bodfish Post Office was just a little bigger than my refrigerator. Crank telephones, no TV reception, big fish.

Hi Guyfisher - fished the Kern last November but from above town to just below the bridge. Nothing on dries as they preferred nymphs. Everything was rather small.
