When you tie, do you keep the scissors in your hand the whole time? I can see where it would save time. I may have to try it. It didn't look like it got in the way at all.

Dan, it is the way to go. Takes a while to become comfortable though. I prefer shorter scissors when tying in this style.
If you want an "evil" fly, try one of those small red bait hooks, Palmer on some black thread with gaps in between, add a crappy-fluffy collar behind a silver bead. Piece of cake!

Yes I tie with my scissors in my hand all the time, but it did take some getting used to. When I first started doing it the scissors would rotate forward and cut my thread when I would be doing big dubbing loops. But like with all things it just takes a little practice.

Great tie and please take this with a grain of salt, but the camera is focusing more on you in both your videos (this one and the SJ worm)
I mean you can still get the just, but if you can get the camera to focus more on the fly, that would be awesome.

Eric: Great video, I enjoyed it very much. Charlie Graven teaches that method of keeping the scissors in your hand all the time. By the way, what brand of vise are you using?

I use a Regal.

I know the fly is out of focus but I'm not a camera person so I don't know what to do or how to do it. I use a Nikon coolpix S230 if anyone has any suggestions.
