Default Big Thompson Canyon report ??

Has anyone been up the Big T from Loveland to Estes park yet this "spring" . I havent had the opportunity to go check out the ice pack. This Saturday the moons lined up and I will get to go fishing. I just wanted to see if anyone has been up and has a ice report. I know typically we start to see ice melt in March-April but this winter has been fairly mild.

I haven't fished there this winter, but here is a fishing report that might help: Stream Report for Boulder and the Front Range of Colorado | Front Range Anglers | Boulder, Colorado Fly Fishing Shop and Guide Service

Thanks, fuuny you post that report, I was going to call those guys today and see how up to date their report was. FRA is my favorite local shop.

My only concern with the Big T is I know there is open water up near the lake but it gets to be elbow to elbow fishing up there. I wanted to stay lower in the canyon where there is more room to move

I'd just give FRA a call, they will know what is going on. I'm wondering how much snow is up there, might be difficult moving around considering how big that last storm was.

I have a friend who lives in Estes. She said that the canyon is still iced up. And only a short stretch below the dam is ice free. The snow storm this week and the super low evening temps won't help either.

If you're going to fish it, go on a week day and avoid the crowds.

Another friend of mine mentioned that the St. Vrain outside of Longmont looked good. Low enough in altitude and close to the front range that it is still ice free...but again, with the recent storm, I'm not sure of the conditions.

Or head out of town! The Blue is fishing great or the Ark in Pueblo. Kind of a long drive, but there's PLENTY of water and you can find fish in almost all of it.

Thanks for the info, that is awesome. I might have to readjust plans and just go skeet shooting then. I would kill to hit the blue but my wife is out of town this weekend and I am on doggy daycare duty with about a 5hr window the can be left alone.

There is always Boulder Creek though
