Default South Platte River - Deckers Area

I've been fly fishing for about five years now and live within a few hours drive of the South Platte, but have never fished it. I read online that the river can fish pretty well late March and April while the flows are still pretty low. Thus, I thought I would start the camping season early and head to the Deckers area and explore this fine fishery for myself. I know it can get very crowded so I will be doing a midweek trip. I am a strong hiker and prefer to walk in to more secluded areas to fish. And I had some questions about the campgrounds.

What are the best areas to walk in to attempt to avoid crowds? Anyone ever done any car camping in the area? I'm a tent camper and do not require RV features. I know the Platte River campground is open year round and right on the river. But there are other campgrounds in the area that sound more appealing. I'm a little picky with my campgrounds......I prefer some shade and privacy. Anyone know other areas to camp? What about free camping in NF land?

And is harvesting one fish per day allowed? And if so, I don't like to eat trout that are too large.....are there a lot of 10-14" trout to be had for the frying pan (again, only one per day is all I ever really take anyway). Are these trout stocked or is it mostly a self sustaining fishery?

thank you for any help
