Default Steamboat fishing in November-December?? or just winter Fly fishing CO questions

hey guys im in SoCal, and this is my first year Fly Fishing,
so im very new to it,
but i do spend alot of time in CO every winter snowboarding, so would love to try Fly Fishing in the winter (i see guys doing it sometimes)

1. ill be in Steamboat for a week during x-mass, i've never been there
--can anyone give me pointers on gear, flies, places to fish, etc?
2. in general, starting with Thanksgiving weekend, and all through the end of winter season, i travel there to snowboard a bunch, and would love to start bringing my rod.
--typically i stay in Dillon/Frisco/Vail area,
--any pointers/suggestions, will be greatly appreciated
what do i need to know about winter fly fishing?
thanks

Check out streamboat fly Fishers. They sorted me out with flies to fish the yampa which flows right thought town and has a trail for easy access.

The Yampa below stagecoach reservoir should provide great winter fishing, but it might be a challenge getting in there, as I heard they don't maintain the road, but a quick call to one of the local fly shops would confirm. Fishing will be your typical tailwater winter midge patterns, but I'm guessing it would be really good.

You might also take a look at this thread: Figgerin' it out on the Yampa!

I'd go armed with zebra midges, Dorsey's mercury midge, Dorsey's mercury Blood midge, Craven;s jujubee midge, griffith's gnat, RS-2's, flashback PT, rainbow warrior, Barr's BWO emerger, WD-40/50's, all in size 18 and 20.
