Default Arkansas River Report

The middle and lower Arkansas are on fire right now as browns are in prespawn mode. Predominantly nymph fishing with baetis and small stoneflies the dominant menu item. However, streamers in the gray to brown spectrum are really starting to get the attention of the fish. Saw a few risers and fooled one on a Royal Trude (could have been a fluke).

Fish the heads of runs into the beginning of the tailouts. Don't be afraid of skinny water as long as it is well oxygenated and has some cover. Water can be recycled after about an hour.

Here are a few of the nicer fish we caught, and we caught in the neighborhood of 30 fish between two of us in about 6 hours. We only caught two rainbows, but they were both really healthy and on the larger size. They seem to be taking a foothold in the lower river finally.
