Looks like I will have to go try out the new rod and reel once I get it. So I take it the road is closed right after the parking lot that is at that trailhead? I think I remember where that was at last year when I drove down there just for scenic views when it was closed.

I don't think a map of the trail is necessary. The trail parallels the west side of the river through almost the entire canyon. It is very easy to follow. You can use Google Maps to get a look at the river, which is basically the map of the trail.

Some info on the trail: Gill Trail - Colorado | AllTrails.com

Nothing profound, or helpful . . .

But Cheesman's on my 2016 "bucket list". Too much time in Deckers and Elevenmile.

No need for a Map. Park in the parking lot. Follow the trail. At the top of the last ridge before you descend into the canyon, there is a map.

Best suggestion is to hike in for a while. I typically put in a 30 to 35 min hike before I start fishing. Seems to get me ahead of people.

I do like to have company up there...that canyon has eyes....Big CATS

Yup, had more than one eerie occasion where I found myself looking around for Sylvester.

Once I crossed over to follow the other side of the river to get away from folks. The heavily used trail I was on came to an end so I had to go up the canyon and over some giant boulders. I found myself on another little game trail that led down to the water which was perfectly hidden with thick brush, and came across a big kitty print in the mud. Perfect hidden little place for one to get some water. Needless to say, I got the hell out of there.

Never felt unsafe on the main trail though, even though I always see the big boulders with over hanging trees and think this would be a great ambush point to be pounced on.

Thanks for the feedback regarding the Map.
I did find the info on Alltrails which was helpful for my friend. He is dedicated hiker.Last Sunday He hiked the entire trail from lot on hwy126 till the Dam. Then he climbed down along the dam wall on the boulders.
He is not much of the fisherman but a hiker.
Of course I am the other way.
