Fishing around Bozeman and Big Sky

I'm headed to MT the week of March 25th and I'm hoping to get on the water a day or two. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've never fished the area and it looks like there's lots of rivers and access. Since I'll only have a couple hours to fish, can anybody recommend specific access spots or stretches to concentrate on? I don't need your honey hole, (unless you really want to tell me! ;))

Recommendation on flies? Stoneflies? Nymphs?

Thanks in advance!

Andrew

I'm guessing you're wading?

If you wanted a float, or a guide.. a few shops are having winter time specials

The Gallatin.. goes from Bozeman to Big Sky, along the highway - easiest place to fish by far. Lower Madison, is a little further, maybe 20 minutes from Bozeman, can be waded, lots of people do, but a better float river

These 2 shops have the best online reports.
Fins & Feathers (you have to drive past this place to gget to Big Sky from Bozeman)

This shop is in BigSky:
Gallatin River Guides

From BigSky - you might run into West Yellowstone and talk to these guys:
Blue Ribbon Flies

That should get you started

Sorry to say I've not had too much luck on the Gallatin, but when it comes to public access it gets an A+ as the state hiway runs right along side of it much of the way from Bozeman to the NP with many turnouts with an easy, short walk down to stream side. And it's also a beautiful drive with lots of classic "Big Sky" scenery.
