Default Road trip this Saturday.

OK guys, I'm gonna take a shortish road trip Saturday, my dilemma is which river I have it narrowed down to either the Colorado by Parshall or The North Platte by the border, 6 Mile Gap to be precise. I've haven't fished that area on the Platte. Need a relief from nymphing and looking for some good dry fly action. Been reading up on both but thought I could get some info from some of the experts on here. There both about a 3 hour drive and I only have Saturday to fish. Not wanting pocket water as the wife is going and she can't wade faster water. Not asking for much am I
Anyways the Poudre is fishing pretty good up high. The big storm we got Friday muddied up the lower canyon. Caught a couple of nice Cut-Bows Friday morning up high on Stimi's. Casting blind and Wham. Gotta love that. Only 2 fish rising..

Default Re: Road trip this Saturday.

Bob: Beautiful Cutties! Both of those rivers should fish well this time of year, hard choice. Maybe less people on the Platte. The Platte has lots of pocket water but also slow gradient sections so you should be able to find suitable water for your wife. USGS says it is at 371 CFS up top at Northgate, so the flow is definitely down.

Edit: Just another thought, you should stop in and talk or at least call the North Park Anglers fly shop in Walden, CO and ask them how the North Platte is fishing in the 6 Mile Gap area, or do the same with the Stoney Creek Outfitters fly shop in Saratoga, WY.
