Default Somebody is having trout tonight, guess who?

I must admit I totally misjudged the size of this trout, but I am willing to forgive myself. After living in Arizona for so long, I forgot what a trout larger than 12" looks like.

She barely made the legal size limit.

A good morning of spot n' stalk fishing. I love tricking them brownies.

Nice fish! Nothing wrong with harvesting and occasional (legal) trout.

Lol, I knew it wouldn't take long. It has been over 6 years since the last trout I kept. I tried to land the hen as fast as I could but she was pretty spent by the time I was able to release the fly. I figured her to be over the length requirement, so I called it a morning.

I am guessing my ratio of fish harvested compared to trout landed is in the ballpark of 1:500.

OTOH, my fly lost to fish caught ratio is closer to a 1:1.

we all have our own opinions, i just think there is no reason to keep a fish when you could go down to the supermarket and pick one up for a few bucks.

unless the fish is a stocked fish and will probably die anyway when the water heats up i always release fish.

Have you ever ate a real fish and then took a bite of a store bought one? Taste like mush lol
I do think C&R is a GREAT tool, but do you really think keeping one out of every 500 you catch is gonna hurt the population in most places? There are very few places now days that conservation dept's dont put fish in anyway to suplament the population.
Not trying to start a fight just good debat and conversation

Mmmmmm tasty.

Wife went with this recipe (Hazelnut-Crusted Trout Recipe : : Food Network). It turned out pretty good.

I don't usually care for trout any bigger than pan fry size, but I have to admit that the fish tasted pretty darn good.

well out in the east coast i would say most of the fisheries are stocked and taking stocked fish are fine. out in the west coast they usually never stock fish in their streams. I will never take a wild fish. We all have our own opinions, i just think mine is the only way.
