Default Nice to see backing again :)

The sweet water has kept me plenty busy but Tuesday afternoon I was itching to taste some salt and hear my drag sing. I grabbed a 9WT and a handfull of half and halfs and caught the last two hours of the outgoing tide.
The first hit caught me completely off guard, by the time I realized what was going on I was down a fly. 30lb tippet and a fresh half and half, 5 minutes later my backing was wet! I ended the tide with 4 hook ups, two made it to the basket and two swam away with my flies in their lip.

I so have to go fly fishing in the Salt. I've never done it. I fished the salt a lot in years past, but with casting gear. Looks like you had a good day to me!

Bluefish are the funnest thing with fins aren't they? Most people have no idea what a fish that size is capable of. They as are mean motor scooters.

Congrats, but I need to ask, what's a half and half?

1/2 Clouser and 1/2 Deciever. Half and half sounded better than Delouser I guess. Cleciever?

Cool looking fly. And I see where "delouser" could give problems.

I love them on the fly, they do it all. They run, they jump, they go left, right. They just don't give up!

The feathers change the entire profile of the fly. Stripers, Fluke, and Blues love them.

..... you used to hear Clouserceiver a lot, but thankfully most everyone's now gone to 1/2&1/2

My first thought was 'Wow, blues this early !"
But I guess I think that every year.

personal side note..... 2 years in a row I caught my largest striper of the season on May 9th. Since then, it's a day on the water I rarely miss.
Maybe I'll even wear my lucky hat.

I thought the same thing. Especially on the inside of the harbor where I was wading. I was expecting an early Fluke, maybe a Striper. It was a nice surprise to see these guys inside this early. Thank God for the Bunker schools...
