Default Tarpon Here I Come!!

Well there is no fishing here at home, just waiting for runoff to end. So I'm hitting the road. In less than 24hrs I'm headed down to Key Largo for some Tarpon fishing.

Talked with Dad last night and he says I could not have timed my trip better. The Palolo Worm hatch has just finished and there are plenty of Tarpon in the area. Weather predictions could not be much better either.

We have our guide booked for Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. At least one of these days we will be heading over to Whitewater bay in the Everglades. Reports from the glades are that Snook are showing up in good numbers finally. Snook have been scarce since the cold this winter kill a bunch off.

I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.

I wouldn't bother with bonefish during the prime of tarpon season if I were you!

Tarpon are more exciting, and they are everywhere right now day and night.

Did you get a bunch of DB's tied up for the trip Dave?

Hope you have a geat trip, and don't drink all of your dad's Glenfidditch.

Got plenty of DB's, Steve has been tying them all year!! I have to buy my own Glefiddich when I get down there. Dad goes for the Blended vs the Single Malt. Give you a shout when I get back.

Luke

Sorry I can't recommend a guide my Dad makes all the arrangements. I'm sure many other members on here can point you in the right direction. You might make a seperate post asking for references.

WJC

Nice tarpon!!! And I agree no need to go chasing bones when there are plenty of Tarpon to be had!! Plus with the high temps my Dad is reporting right now I'll bet it is hard to find Bones up on the flats right now.
