Default Roosters in Puerto Rico

We are two couples that will be vacationing in Puerto Jimenez and have carved out two days to fly fish. We have rods up to #12. Has anyone fished in this area, know guide(s) or flies, technique? Have fished salt for Permit, bones, tarpon, snook. But would like to get ahold of one of these rooster fish.

Thanks

Those are definetly on my bucket list. I've never fished for them but here is a video that shows some flies. They seem to like them fast. I like the part where the guy casts and then starts running down the beach as fast as he can go. It's a great video.

That rooster video is a rip! Beautiful fish. I don't think there are roosters in P. R. . Mexico , Panama and Baja. But the action for medium size Tarpon in the harbors of Puerto Rico is fantastic.

I didn't even catch that, but you are right. Rooster fish are an Eastern Pacific fish only.

Dang, after reading the responses it dawned on me that it's COSTA RICA. My bad. I'll repost a new thread. And thanks for your comments/video.

Thumbs up Re: Roosters in Puerto Rico

Glad you posted. Getting to see the video Dan posted was awesome! Those Roosters were beautiful and the guy chasing them was wild!
