Default Re: New Hydros Lines--Baby Tarpon

and to the above I'll add Hydros 6wt All Rounder Saltwater on a new Hydros LA 6wt reel on a Hydros (discontinued) 6wt SW tip-flex. [Shame they discontinued the Hydros rod line; a baby Helios at a good price.]

Casting could not have been easier, even in the wind. The line literally flew through the guides.

Only observation was that throwing a #2 deep Clouser felt like I had a cast iron pan on the end. Quickly went back to a 4 or 6 bead eye, or one of my favorites, Adams' Big Ugly.

The Hydros lines seem to be getting a lot of good reviews. You asked if they made a cold water version. I have looked for and asked about a 10ft clear sink tip for flats fishing for Stripers. Not sure if this is what your looking for but if it is here is my opinion of the line.

I got a number of different suggestions about different lines and after researching the lines none seemed to fit the bill. This year Orvis came out with the 10 ft clear sink tip rated for various environments and water temps.

I bought the line and had the chance to use it this week and was very impressed. Fishing the salt in April is a good test, I had no memory issues or coiling issues and the line loaded the rod and cast extremely well. The next test will be to see how it works on the Snook next month in Sanibel.

I would recommend this line to anyone.
