Hurricane Sandy Should Have Been Here Yesterday

Hurricane Sandy is reeking havoc with the fall run! From what I've heard yesterday NY and NJ beaches were the place to be for fish! Today the combination of storm building and moon tides can't get to them unless you want to catch the fish that hit the streets. Hopefully it should be great once the storm subsides!
For all you east coast SW flyfisherman be safe it's wicked out there!

Think of all the new cuts and bars that will be formed not to mention old rock piles that were covered up by the replishment. Man I bet Long Branch down to Asbury will be bass city!

This cut opened up on Nauset Beach 5 years ago and has since become the major passage into Pleasant Bay and Chatham Harbor (and not just for the great whites )

On the upper right of the picture there's a point where some asshat had just built a huge mcmansion the year before and then proceeded to post his land. If you've ever seen the cover of Lou Tabory's book Inshore Fly Fishing, that picture was taken at the mussel bar rip right in front of this house.

Anyway... it's karma time

It's amazing how people can build in places like that Rip! That inlet reminds me of the one that opened up in Moriches LI! Sometimes it helps the fishing sometimes it hurts! Really don't want the great white and seal situation you got up there! Although the amount of seals at Montauk has multiplied ridiculously recently! Same inside Long Beach last winter! Takes a toll on the herring run which in turn effects the stripers! Oh boy!
