I was and usually fish a

That day I was using orange.

It is a variation of a fly Frank @ His and Her Flyshop in Huntington Beach showed me. I carry them in a variety of colors.

I was also using a green "grub" imitation - a cone head chanelle body with a plastic tail - also tie them in rootbeer and orange.

Flyguy, I saw those nice slabs on another site and saw that you might fish with a good friend of mine Richard in SD Bay. That fly would work well there, I caught many on something very similar. You'll have a very good time floating with RC. Highly recommended.
