Default Delaware beaches

Hi, I'm heading down to the DE sea shore for a week 9/29-10/5. Doe's any one know of places to fly fish there. I mostly surf fish with surf gear, but this time i want to use my salt water fly rod. Has any one fished this area before.
Thank's.

Haven't fished there in many, many years, but Cape Henlopen State Park is one place that fly rodders have some success, and Indian River Inlet is another.

There's a shallow flat at Cape Henlopen, so wading is possible, but IRI it's not. They've built a new bridge at IRI since I was there last so I don't know what's there now. Used to be rip rap along the shore on both sides of the inlet. Treacherous at times, as those rocks can be very slippery.

There's also some designated surf fishing areas along the shore near IRI, at least south of there. I can't recall if there's any north of there, but never fished those areas myself with a fly rod.

IRI has some strong currents, so if you go there be very careful, and fast sinking lines would be good to have there.

The inlet jetty at OC on the south end can be fished with a fly rod too, but again it can be slippery & dangerous if you're not careful.

fish back behind the coast guard station, there's flats with channels. hit the edges of channels for blues, spot, croaker, trout. might be a small shark or 2 too. 100 yds from the north jetty used to be a good slough along the beach at the end of the surfing area.

Thumbs up Re: Delaware beaches

Hi, all . Sorry i didn't get back to tell. (i did beat the shark off). It was one hell of a great learning experiance. Casting for one. But i did catch one taylor blue fish. It was like when i cought my first trout on a fly rod, it beat every thing i cought before that point. So; this year comming 2014, i'll do my bucket list and just fish for every thing with a fly rod, surf, jettys, bass, . Thanks for all the help. p.s. i cougth the blue near the Cape Henlopen pier.
