Default Hopper dropper type setup for the salt

Anybody ever use a "hopper dropper" type setup in the salt? I was thinking something like a popper with a clouser or shrimp suspended and, letting it bob in the light surf.

Saltwater fish around here like fast food.
Poppers have to be constantly in motion or they won't touch them.
I do however fish 2 streamers a good deal of the time, both stripped and dead drifted.

Foam popper with a shrimp pattern underneath deadly on Sea Trout and Weakfish.
Two or three Sabiki flys on a reef or jetty and you never know what will fill your hooks from Mangrove Snappers to Mullet and everything in between!
Rips got it right on the dual streamers , deadly under the right conditions !

I've used a popper & streamer combination but frankly prefer single flies. Can work well depending on the species you're most likely to find & the conditions.

As theboz has said, for Seatrout or Weakfish it can be a good choice. It's not something that's fun when the winds blowing however. Too many tangles & if you find Bluefish usually too many lost flies. Blues tend to grab one or the other of the flies, sometimes two at once & another one will cut your leader or tippet as they bite at anything that moves.

I also agree with Rip, salt species tend to move much faster than freshwater species so they want flies that move. For me I've had better success with single flies.

I have done well at times with a popper & streamer combo & tidal LM bass and occasionally with Striped bass, but the situation has to be right for it.
