Default Short Video Report - Louisiana Bull Reds and Big Black Drum

My buddy and I headed to Louisiana to fish for Bull Reds and Big Black Drum on the fly. We hit the weather exactly wrong. Dark gray skies, heavy winds, record low temperatures, and rain made the fishing extremely difficult but we managed some fish. Bull reds up to 25 lbs and black drum up to 32 lbs. My buddy way outfished me but it was a lot of fun nonetheless since I didn't get skunked and caught my biggest fish on the fly to date. We are already planning next year's trip back.

I couldn't figure out how to embed the video so here is the direct link:

The rod my buddy was using was a Clutch 9 wt. and it was pretty darn slow but really nice to cast. He joked when we were watching the video of him drag that big drum in that he made the rod in to a circle. I have never broke a rod on a fish and to my knowledge, neither has he.

That's one tough rod. Looks like a heap of fun there.

Cheers,
Graeme

The footage was all GoPro so there is a chance some of the effect on that rod was fish-eye magic. That fish was 32 lb. When my buddy hooked it and it made the first run, we thought it was a redfish but it turned out to be a black drum.
