Default My long ovedue Costa Rica fishing report

With the generous help from board members, I had gathered all the necessary gear and made plans for my trip down to Costa Rica last March; however life threw me some curve balls. First I herniated a disc in my lower back in January, which really caused a lot of pain and limited mobility; this turned out to be a minor issue as my lovely wife was diagnosed with cancer in mid-February. She had excellent doctors and a major operation. Thank God she is now fully recovered. We are getting back to normal and Life goes on; we welcomed our first grandchild in late May and are just now making plans to try again for Costa Rica next January. I imagine some of you who helped me get ready for the aborted trip last March probably were wondering just what kind of jerk I was for never sharing a follow-up report - and I apologize.

Heal well and my prayers for both of you...."Next year" sadly as we get older tends to become a common expression. Hopefully that year and beyond it is no longer!

Curve ball indeed, that was quite the upheaval in your life, but it sounds like things are turning around and hopefully the Costa Rica trip will become a reality this next Jan, can't wait to read about your trip, best of luck.

Tough year. I suspect everyone understands. Hope you have a great trip when you make it there. I have to go to CR for a 3 week business trip in Sept/Oct. Planning to squeeze some fishing in on the weekends!

I have to admit that there was a bit of work done to make sure I was part of the team on that assignment. :-)

Get yourself better and take care of your wife, then enjoy the trip.
What part of CR? I haven't fish there in about 8 yrs but lived there for 29 yrs! Did lots of spinning/trolling on the Pacific , near La Cruz, Guanacaste ( playa la Rajada) and around area and started to learn some fly fishing with a friend but that was it.... Planning on going back sometime and fish again. Went tarpon fishing at Bocas del Toro.... Huge tarpon rolling all around boat... Too bad only a small snapper decided to take the lure.... Anyway I hope you write back and lots of pics, I want to hear the stories!! Take care and good luck on your trip, it will happen just be patient and you will be rewarded with an awesome fishing experience!
