Default Versatile 9wt line for stripers and blues

In terms of floating or sinking lines, which type will be the most versatile for stripers and blues? Most of the time I fish the mouth of the Norwalk river. In other words, not in rough beach surf. Any thoughts on price concious brands(Cheap )? Any of the Cabela lines worth looking at?
