Default leader to tippet knot

ive read to use a surgeons or barrel/blood knot. which one do yall use in the salt? i have had a surgeons knot come untied before in fw situations, was this because i didn't seat it well enough? i thought i had seated it plenty good.

I use the double surgeons knot, mainly because it is quick to tie, but I don't recall ever having a failure there. If I have a failure it is at the tippet to fly connection.

I use a loop2loop connection.
If I'm being really serious, I use a doubled surgeons loop (with the mono doubled over to create 2 loops) in the leader and a bimini twist in the tippet.
But normally I'll just go with a double surgeons loop or non-slip loop on each side.
Never use a perfection loop on the tippet side, they're not strong enough.

Default Re: leader to tippet knot

never had a problem with either a double surgeons (some folks prefer a triple surgeon) or a blood knot for bonefish. when my knots fail it's because I did something wrong tying them.
