Hi Bass Bug,

Now that's a real sea trout. We have what they call trout down in the Gulf of Mexico that look a little bit like trout, but they have teeth like a snapper, don't taste anything like trout and live in 86 degree water.

That other fish looks like what they call pollock in Maine.

Cheers,
Jim

Bass bug,

Great post, congratulations on the fish.

That colie or "coalfish" as wjc said is what we call "pollock" here in the northeast US and mostly caught with cod and haddock in very deep water using clams or heavy Norwegian cod jigs and not usually from shore--- and very, very rarely caught on flies.

Do you often catch them from shore with flies?

Hi peregrines thanks. Its not uncommon to take them on a flie, specially this time of year same as cod, they can take your flie as little as 3 m from land  But you just have to find a ledge that drops away.Using a sink line any thing from sink 1 to sink 4. Was out again 05.00 wind 5m a second and small rain.Result 2 sea trout 1.2 and 500g .]http://sportsfiske.nu/foto/arkiv/43908/108922_s.jpg[/img]
