Default saltwater fly fishing mayan riviera

Would it be feasible to use my light 5 piece fly rod to fish either on the beach, or possibly guided. Having never been there, do you need a license?

First,

You need a license to fish in Mexico - contact the nearest Mexican consulate for more details. All the beaches in Mexico are public but in front of major resorts the hotel security will escort you off "their" beach.

What weight rod are you taking? A eight weight is probably the minimum rod if you are only taking one rod.

We are planning on going to the same region but will be based out of Tulum and Punta Allen.

Thanks for the response, the rod I was thinking of taking is old break apart 9' bamboo rod I use in tight spots ( small foothills/cuthroat streams) which will fit in my suitcase. Also will be staying at a large resort ( they might escort me off any way)
