It's Time

After a long cold winter the years first fish are starting to show up. I am doing my first saltwater trip this weekend on Va's. eastern shore. flounder will be the target species but a few stripers have also been reported. I am expecting the action to be slow the first couple of weeks but as the water heats up so will the fishing. I will keep everyone informed. The tackle is ready the fly boxes are over stuffed and i need to see my backing.

Sounds great man. I'm hoping to hear my backing slice some saltwater this year, and before the jacks show up.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

Jim I have been warming up for the salt this season by chasing Goldenbone's.
They will take a reel into the backing on medium sized outfits and when the water temps hit 40 they go into prespawn.

Have to admit I would much prefer to practice with the smell of salt in the air and the sound of the surf but I do like the fight carp give on a fly and the sight fishing. Plus I don't have to drive very far either.

The weather has cancelled my fishing plans 2 weekends in a row. It's got to get better soon I hope

Today
W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 4 to 7 ft.
Tonight
W winds 20 to 25 kt. Gusts up to 40 kt in the evening. Seas 4 to 7 ft...subsiding to 3 to 5 ft after midnight.
Sun
W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt...diminishing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft.

I bet the weather is perfect Monday and tuesday it's always nice when i'm working. Oh well back to the vice i guess.
