dial me in.....what rod and reel do i need to hunt redfish in flats in and around port aransas?

A 9' 8wt and matching saltwater safe reel with a WFF line and 100yds of backing.

Cheapest adequate rig is a Echo Solo rod, Lamson Konic reel, and I suppose an Allen line.

Better option would be a TFO BVK, Lamson Guru, and Mastery Textured Magnum.
