Re: warmwater pics

I love those gills. I use a light 2wt TFO Finesse and the bend in that rod is unreal. It is such a hoot. A 9" bluegill will actually take a few feet of line quite often.

Re: warmwater pics

A bunch of bluegill from a local lake (and one gorgeous bluegillxGreen sunfish hybrid).

Re: So, Why Am I Not Fishing?

Sorry to hear that Ard. But good news! According to the weather forecasts, it's supposed to warm to the 50s and even flirt with 60 next week for you guys. I'm certain that will be a welcome relief...

Re: Exotic continued

Nice! Peacock bass, and what looks like some orange tilapia, as well as more standard colored ones (I could be wrong on the tilapia). Were you guys in Hawaii?

Re: I'm so tired of getting ripped off!

Orvis charges for the name that's for sure. No doubt some of their products are better values than others. I just wish my local walmart had fly fishing things period.

Re: Ross flyrise #2

I had one for a while. Good reel for the price and it does have a strong drag.

That being said, for around $100-$150, there are probably better reels. The Ross is a cast aluminum reel, and is...

Re: Evolution of an Angler

Kind of the way I feel about. I find that part of the fun for me is gently holding a trout in my hands as it rests in the current of the stream; taking in the beautiful brown and pink spots of a...

Re: a foody thread?

To each his own, but I find rib eyes superior to chuck eye steaks. Chuck eyes are close and a great substitute for the price, but to me at least rib eyes are more tender. I also find rib eye steaks...

Re: fish#1:my first CUTBOW? fish#2: what type of CUTTHROAT is this?

OP said he caught the first fish from Clear Creek, but the second one was from Gore Creek. Either fish could be 100% rainbow or part rainbow part cutthroat. The trouble in fish Id comes in with...

Re: fish#1:my first CUTBOW? fish#2: what type of CUTTHROAT is this?

Not certain about the fish in question #1. Looks a lot like a rainbow with VERY few characteristics of a cutthroat, and the slashes on his throat are not defined very well or of a very deep color....

Re: Orvis to Acquire the Scientific Anglers and Ross Reels Businesses from 3M

I hope this all works out in the end and SA as well as Ross stay the way they are or move forward in a positive direction.

It would be Silly for Orvis to end the production of Ross and SA products...
