Re: Idaho Small Streams Part 2

Allen, I am surrounded by world famous waters, and where do I fish? Little streams and tributaries that I seldom ever see anyone else on. I love the small streams. It is so much fun to explore the...

Re: Sparks Marina

I'm not familiar with the Sparks Marina. What kind of fish?

Are you looking for dry fly suggestions? If not a leech, chironomid, or even a mayfly nymph fished below the surface should produce.

Re: Idaho Small Streams Part 3 More Cutts

Tell Joni to heal really quick. You guys have to make your fall trip to Henry.
It's hard not being able to do what you love, but in reality... tell her not to rush it.

Idaho Small Streams Part 3 More Cutts

The winds of change shifted and the smoke came in, so I left to go to a different area…again. This stream has some very pretty sections. That wasn’t where I was fishing this time. The ambiance...

Idaho Small Streams Part 2

Brookies and Bows

Off to a different stream type. Still clear and cold, but slower with lots of meandering turns. Beautiful!

Re: First Tiger Trout

Congrats on your first tiger. I have yet to catch one, but it is on the list. Idaho will soon be stocking a few. I hope that they are a hit here as I can think of several places that could use a...

Idaho Small Streams Part 1

I spent three days last week on a medium sized stream and I hiked into various parts of it. This is such a pretty stream that I ended up with way too many pictures of both it and the fish. It's one...

Re: How long does it take from your home to the water?

I am pretty lucky in that I live within an hour's drive of a lot of fishing. Although I usually travel at least an hour or more for most of my trips. I like to explore other streams and areas....

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. It was a great week.

I've been gone on another adventure...aka.. dodging the smoke. I will see about posting some pictures on it a little later. Right...

Idaho High Valleys

This last week I went exploring up in the top of the mountains to an area we used to fish a lot with our kids. It has been about 5 years since I was last in this area. ...

Re: beavers!

Bummer on the ponding of your stream. They certainly are a pain when they are in the "wrong" place, but beavers do a lot of good too.

On some of our dry area streams their dams hold enough...

Re: First Fly Rod Help! Allen,Redinton,St.croix or Loop

My choice from what you listed would be the Allen or a Redington CT.

Another one to consider is the 3wt Three Forks 7.5ft rod. It is a nice stream rod for a beginner.

Re: Flies for western Wyoming?

For dry flies in the up coming summer and fall fishing season, learn to tie an elk hair caddis in different sizes and colors. It is a very versatile fly as it can be taken as a caddis, stonefly,...

Re: Camping Laws, Wy.-Mt.-Id....advice sought.

I can't camp at campgrounds so I only camp in dispersed or boondock areas. I have looked at a lot of maps.

Lame....may not be the best word in this situation. Not up to expectations maybe?

It really depends on why you are going to the place. Is it to say that you have fished _________ ? Or is it...

It really depends on where I am fishing and for what. Some species really need some thinning, some natives don't. I keep panfish and some fish that need thinning out or some non-natives that are...

Re: Camping Laws, Wy.-Mt.-Id....advice sought.

Here in Idaho and many other of the nearby states it is usually referred to as "dispersed camping". You need to look up the website for the specific national forest or BLM area to find out their...
