Put a dab of glow in the dark strike putty on the tippet knot. Activate with a UV light like the Loon wader repair UV light or a UV laser (pm me for a laser), then use the putty to locate your fly.

I would not do it with a multipiece rod. A large fish could pull the upper rod section off the rest of the rod and you would be FUBAR.

You could tie the tenkara line to the end of your regular fly...
