Re: Aspen for July 4th- One day to fish?

I say you can't beat the Pan. But I never float so I can't help you there.

Re: First time in Novia Scotia

I have relatives in Nova Scotia and if I ever have the time/money to make it up there again I'd also like to do some fly fishing. We used to do deep sea fishing with hand line back in the 80's...

Re: Dream Stream report 4-23-16

That sounds like my typical day at Deckers. I have very little luck up there.

Re: Dream Stream report 4-23-16

That wind was pretty unusual for sure. I almost gave up after about the 4th wind knot but I figured I might as well make the best of it.

Dream Stream report 4-23-16

My buddy and I drove up to the Dream Stream today. The wind was BRUTAL but I made it work to my advantage by always keeping it to my back so that it would help me get the fly to hover over the exact...

Re: Here we go again big snow for Colorado this weekend

Not too much accumulation in Denver over night. Just icy and slick.

I just tell myself that spring snow is better than summer wild fires. I'm always happy for moisture in Colorado.

Re: Fly tying challenge

Yeah, I've heard that one before.

Good luck!! Let's see if you can be the only person I know who's saved money tying flies.

Re: Tippet Rings = Ethical ?

It's been said already but here goes. I use tippet rings. Saves me money on leaders and time tying knots on the river. I'll never go back. And to call it unethical is just stupid.

Re: What have you been tying today?

Oh... for some reason I figured it was a dry fly. That's a pretty great idea. Let us know how well if fishes!

Re: What have you been tying today?

Does that fly float? I'd think that copper wire would be pretty heavy.

Re: What fly boxes do you use?

I bought a few boxes before I landed on these. They're kinda pricey but they hold a lot of flies and are very rugged.

Re: Is fly fishing an elitist activity?

For years I fished with my Great Uncle's hand-me-down, torn up, dirty, fishing vest, a cheap pair of leaky waders, tennis shoes, a $50 reel, and a $70 rod. I caught plenty of fish and honed my skills...

Re: Rubber nets

The only difference I can see is those nicer nets just look nicer. I have a wooden, $20 net, with rubber a (ghost) bag. It holds fish. It hasn't broken in the 3 years I've fished with it. It's light,...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Thanks! Yeah it was a lot of work. I probably won't fish too many of these. I mostly tied it to see if I could.

The wing material is Spirit River "Mayfly Wings Med. Grey SZ 16/18." The back says...

Re: What have you been tying today?

I saw a fly like this at the shop and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. But here's my version of it. This was my first attempt using those wings....

Re: Fly of choice

I have my go-to flies like Adams, midges, hare's ears, and elk hair caddis, but I also have 3 boxes of assorted flies that I keep if a specific hatch is out.
