Re: Visibility after dark...

It's about that time of year when I'll be seeing the white fly blizzard on a couple of streams. I'm mostly a trout snob but I really enjoy fishing for smallies during the white fly hatch which...

Re: Sage Aluminum Rod Carriers

I don't take my aluminum tube on the plane either, that's where the ballistic covered tube comes into play. I have wondered about how well these travel however.

Re: Sage Aluminum Rod Carriers

I've got one that I use to put two hand rods in and while I like it, I much prefer the ballistic coated tube I've got as I find it much easier to get rods in and out of. The aluminum tube will hold...

Re: Switch Rod Fly Line Question.

The other thing to consider is that if you plan to use the 5wt rod for Steelhead you are very likely to be under gunned. For Steelhead in Michigan I'd go 7 if you're fishing steelhead exclusive and...

Re: "The Miracle 100+"

Jerry doesn't necessarily need me to chime in on this topic but I'm going to nose my way in anyways. Ordering couldn't be easier. Just like placing an online order with a fly shop, make your...

I'd venture a guess the decision has long been made. This thread dates back to 2015:p

Re: Fly Line Maintenance

As I mentioned in my post, I am obsessive about what I put on my lines likely more so than others. If you find a line dressing that you like you should by all means use it and stick with it. And...

Re: Hitting The Century Mark...

Good post Jerry, thanks for the reminder. You know all too well my preference for tying tools. Those FM issue bobbins and whip finishers are the only ones that get time at the vise these days.

Reading through some of the posts here in this thread, I'm asking myself the same question.

Well Brian you are full of great news as of late. I too am sorry to hear of this as I thought exposure here would get you plenty of voting action. I'm sure many of us voted daily and supported your...

Re: RIP Bailey ( dog )

Brian, I'm so very sorry. That's a rough one for sure and such an unusual set of circumstances which I'm certain doesn't make it any easier. One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do in...

Re: Bauer, Galvan and Abel SD

If I were a betting man, I'd suspect that one of the first things beyond marketing them more than they are today, is to make a Bauer Reel match the Winston Green.

Re: I've got the face buff ad again.

Larry, I agree with you. I'm not crazy about how they feel on my face--at least during the warmer temps. The lightweight hoodies are wonderful. I've got a couple of them from Patagonia and I love...

Here's to successful procedures and good health moving forward. I can't argue with any of the guys who've said you're an integral part of the forum and absolutely one of the best.

Jerry, the eagle has landed, thanks so much for getting them out. The flies are everything I knew they'd be and then some--as has been the case with every transaction we've made. Outstanding...

Re: Scott G2 vs Burkheimer DAL

I compared the weight of the 590 DAL to the 590 Z Axis and the Burkie is lighter by a fraction. Then I laid both rods out side by side and you can see the Z Axis really tapers down from butt to tip...

Re: Todd similar to SAGE SLT

I agree with the others who've mentioned keep an eye out for a 490 SLT or consider the ZXL. I can't help but think if you've tried other rods and haven't found the magic you felt while fishing the...

Re: Success With Size 30 Fly?

I could never even fathom tying something that small and my vision is 20/20. I certainly applaud your efforts and anyone that can tie that small. I am not a fan of tying small flies, though I know...

Re: Reels & Balance - Tids and Bits

I guess that's what I had also suggested in my commentary. I agree whole heartedly with your notion that I'd rather have the extra weight than not enough. Excellent post that you made el jefe.

Balance seems to be an interesting and very subjective topic. I think what you've explored is similar to what I've discovered, though your experiment has brought much of that rationale to the...

Re: Scott G2 vs Burkheimer DAL

I've got no experience with the G2, though I know it is a highly thought of and sought after rod.

My fishing partner/best mate has the 489 DAL. Outstanding rod. The craftsmanship is incredible...
