Re: How far can you cast?

My casting distance is about 40 to 50 feet with my left hand. And my left hand does not know what my right hand is doing.

Re: how to repair the squashed snake guide?

Yes fae, you are right. Sage warranty service responded to me back telling me do not do any Do it yourself stuff. They are saying the repair is possible by stripping that guide off and rewrapping it,...

I got a brand new Sage One rod (486) and found that the a snake guide (the last one from the top) on the first section of the rod seems squashed and looks more oval. I already contacted with Sage and...

Re: Helios 2 9' vs 10' 5wt rod

Why did the Orvis store recommended a ten foot rod?

Re: LMF trip 5-17-2016

I have been LMF last week and the fishing was tough. It seems that the recent controlled spillway release has to do with the reduced number of fish in the Evening hole. I also used dry flies and...

Re: Proud papa has to brag

Congratulations for your daughter's achievement. A Ph.d program is a long and arduous academic exercise, but given that your daughter has come so far she will complete it with flying colors.

Re: Pulse/recon/nexus/a4

Plus one for Recon. I bought a 5 wt nine footer and simply love it. It cast effortlessly and its light swing weight makes a long day of fishing much easier. On a windy day, the fast action of the rod...

Re: I have $350 to spend...which rod?

You can find some good rods within that price range from Yellowstone angler's 5 wt shoot out 2016. Of course you can take their view with a grain of salt.
I can only talk about Orvis Recon 5 wt 8...

Re: 8' 6" 4 wt. Question

I prefer a 'not easy to cast well' rod as long as they offer potential rewards.
The rewards can be incredible tight loops and correcting or perfecting your castings, and so on. I have been intrigued...

Re: 8' 6" 4 wt. Question

S&S, I appreciate your articulation of Z. Can you tell me more about the virtues of One? For me, when I cast One and Zenith side by side about 4 years ago, I like One by a large margin, but I could...

Re: Your Fly rod brand of choice

I don't have brand loyalty either. I choose rods based on my own wiggle test or lawn castings. And for some reasons I go for Winston. Yet recently I cast Orvis Recon at an Orvis fly shop here and I...
