So today I fished the rod with a reel with a 3wt wf line; much better! Im almost positive my issue was due to an overweight line, so thanks for that!

Thank you Larry and the rest of you.

I am thinking my line might be too heavy for the rod. Next week I am meeting a buddy and going to put his reel with 3 weight line on it and see what she does....

Hi Ard,

The rod is a local Dutch label, fabricated in Czech republic and is advertised as having a wonderful 'mid-flex action'

I will try with different leaders and lengths of leaders and see...

The rod is an 8ft 3 weight. When I bought the reel, the guy i bought it from was not sure if there was a 3 or 4 weight line on, but he was sure it was a double...
