Re: Fooled a "Homeguard" Bonefish today...

Re: Lamson Litespeed Question

I have both the 3x filled with 20 lbs. dacron backing and the 3.5x with 30 lbs. dacron backing on my 8 wt. rods for bonefish. Of these 2 reels, I prefer the balance of using the 3.5x and basically...

Re: Ross CLA or Lamson Konic/Guru?

You can add my name to the list of Lamson users. I own several Litespeeds (2, 3x, and 3.5x) and really like them all. I've caught a good number of bonefish on the 3.5x without any issue, so I don't...

Re: Clear Fly Line adavantegs?

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but if you need a floating line, a light colored line (ivory, sky blue, tan) might work better. Clear works too, but not in moving water. Clear lines are really hard to...

Re: Clear Fly Line adavantegs?

Rip Tide makes a good point. I normally fish shallow saltwater flats and a clear, floating line has the advantage of being stealthy. But a clear line will not make up for poor fly presentation and...

Re: Fluorocarbon Knot Problem

A while back I had a similar problem with my double surgeon's loop knot breaking when I tried to strip strike bonefish. I was using 1x fluorocarbon tippet and was puzzled because not every knot...

Re: Echo Fly Rod Warranty

Rewrapping the damged guide is not hard at all. Depending on how much Echo wants to replace the guide and if they even will do it for you, with mailing charges and other fees, you might...

Re: What brand leader material do you use to build leaders?

Mason hard leader material works for me. I like it because it is stiff and durable, but difficult to tie blood knots to join sections of different thicknesses. I keep it simple for bonefish, 25 /...

Re: Bonefish hooks

Mustad S71SZ in z-metal is what I use. But heavy drag pressure and shallow hook penetration will bend any hook open no matter how big (or small) the bonefish. Another reason I like the S71 is the...
