Re: Solo canoe Fly fishing?

Witrouter, I'll toss in my 2 cents as food for thought. I have a We-No-Nah Vagabond solo canoe and a Wilderness systems Tarpon 120 Sit-On-Top Kayak. I fly fish from both, but have never found the...

Re: Kayak fishers, I'd like your opinion.

I'll give you my opinion...remember, just my opinion.
I have a Tarpon 120 SOT and enjoy it. I think the SOT design is the way to for fishing. I belong to a Kayak Fishing Club and one by one the...

Re: Video showing how to use a Furled Leader for Dry Fly Fishing.

I often see posts about these leaders, but I know nothing about them.
This video was extremely informative.
Quick question...I am not a fan of loop to loop connections of fly line to leader.
Is...

Re: When is a compliment really a compliment?

Many years ago, I learned how to fly fish by reading a book...no internet yet.
After I got the hang of it, I taught my buddy.
We were at a seminar together and there was a guy helping people with...

Re: socks over sock foot waders?

This is very interesting. This is the first time I have ever heard of this.
Sounds like a good idea. I wear heavy wool blend socks under the wader sock to keep my feet warm. The issue is I always...

Re: Recommendation for a Sling Pack?

I just did a search on these and found them at Academy. The description is just a little vague, as it says fits 2 small utility boxes. "Small utility boxes" depending on who you are could be huge...

Re: Sea Eagle Frameless Pontoon

Nick, I have 2 Sea Eagle 8 foot rafts that I got for the family to use to float day trips on the river. Just for fun and swimming and a good time. I believe the material for the Frameless Pontoon...

Re: Best pontoon boat under $500

Ok Nick. I'll not belabor the point, but given your info here, I'll say that the Disc 119 canoe is about 30 lbs and you can car-top with foam blocks designed for just the situation you describe. If...

Re: Best pontoon boat under $500

Nick, you may want to research the Old Town Discovery 119.
I do not own one, but have given it some serious thought. Most reviews I read are good reviews. About 12 foot and light...perfect for...

Re: Water Master Kodiak Raft...Thoughts?

Re: Water Master Kodiak Raft...Thoughts?

I will add a front platform for storing camp gear...I don't know if I can figure out something to keep the dog happy yet. I will be pulling the boat off the shelf in a few weeks and start to mess...

Re: NFO boat Assault or Assault XX ?

I also fish rivers...more class I than II water. I used a sit-on-top yak for years. Belong to a kayak fishing club, so get out often. Since I got the Assault, I rarely use the yak on rivers. ...

Re: Water Master Kodiak Raft...Thoughts?

I have the Assault...not the XX.
I think I may have gotten the XX if I knew how much I would have liked it. I plan on taking my new dog on some trips and doing some overnight river trips, so the XX...

Re: kayak, float tube or pontoon

I agree. I don't have a problem with the paddle either. It sits across my lap when not in use. It doesn't get in the way there and is always ready. I like the sit-on-top yak to cover distances...

Re: Recommendation for a Sling Pack?

I have used mine twice now. I made a modification by cutting off the inside nylon closure top with draw string. It is a shoulder bag and you can swing it around to your back. After moving around,...

Re: Water Master Kodiak Raft...Thoughts?

I agree that the NFO Assault series would be something to really consider.
It took me a year and a half to look at the different choices and I narrowed it down to the Water Master, Commander and...

I don't have any recommendations, but you said raft trip, so you will have a pump with you. Is there anything inflatable in the way of chairs? They would take up little space while traveling. ...

Re: Colorado XT Pontoon

That is a Big Plus in my opinion. Scupper holes are an important feature if I was looking for a new ride. Wish my canoe had them, but then it would just sink.

Re: Colorado XT Pontoon

I did puncture my Assault once. I was spin fishing and using a size 4 hook. The fish slammed the side with the hook hard enough to puncture. However, I didn't notice the leak for a few days. I...
