Ribbed with small size chartreuse UTC wire. In fact, I rib most of my nymph patterns with chartreuse wire. Why? I catch more fish with those flies :D

One more option would be to attach the hackle to the post, dub the thorax from the eye back to the abdomen resting your thread and bobbin on the near side of the hook at the base of the post.

To answer, yes, I use a paste floatant in the parasol. If you work it in well you may not have to reapply for several hours.
