Thanks! I'm getting excited for this spring's run. We have TONS of snow so far this year. I think the run off will be pretty strong.

Re: Top Salmon Producers?

Timing, persistence, patience and presentation are key for Chinook aka King Salmon.

The best patterns are streamers, early on in the run. I have had better luck with darker streamers, but that...

Re: Steelhead Highlights Video from November 2012

Thanks Mcnerney. I don't mind it so much. I will be back to normal in no time. Yeah, it's been colder than normal this year. I hope you get some warmer weather soon as well. I can still cast a...

Re: Steelhead Highlights Video from November 2012

Thanks rock and jack. As rock knows... it's been awful outside lately. -37 here a few days ago with the wind chill. That's insane. I will be taking it easy until mid February anyhow. I have a...

Re: Fly shop

I won't mention any names, but the guy that had one up here is a joke. Very unprofessional, has no fly fishing know-how.

I might have something in the works with someone, but I'll know more in...

Re: Fly shop

Yes there is one right past Iron Mountain by the Menominee River. Northwoods Outfitters. They have a good selection of flies and fly tying material. I go there often. The owner is a stand up guy...

Steelhead Highlights Video from November 2012

I guess I forgot to post this one. All this footage was shot in just a few hours. I owe all of the footage to a friend of mine, Kevin. I hope you enjoy it. Today's conditions were perfect, but...

Re: Christmas come early...

@ rockriver... thanks =) Yeah I don't think I have kept one fish in 3 years. I certainly wouldn't keep a giant female like her.

@ the boz... rarely ever crowds in the U.P. =)

@ Dave... it's a possible Upper Peninsula of Michigan Record... especially on the fly. It measured 31" long. It weighs around 30 pounds. It was over 9 inches tall from belly to back. It also had...

Re: Christmas come early...

@pszy22... There are several species that spawn in the fall. Eggs are a huge staple in lake-run fish's diets. I prefer natural colors, although that may not make all that much difference.

Once...

Re: Christmas come early...

Thanks everyone! It took a lighter clown egg pattern I tie. I only use natural colors. Most fly tyers use yellow, but I rarely use anything too loud. Mostly, pinks, creams, oranges etc etc. I...

@ nickel. I know what you're saying. It's all in how you read the response. I already stated a few times in this thread that these fish were completely fine. Just trying to reiterate my point. ...

Re: Lake Run Brown Trout Highlights from 2012 HD Video

@ nickel. These fish were not "played". They were caught in any other manner. You're preaching to the choir here pal. You forgot to take in a few factors, oxygen levels, water temp etc. As I...

Re: Lake Run Brown Trout Highlights from 2012 HD Video

I should have rephrased that. What you were saying is correct, I was trying to make reference that yes these fish were alright. No offense meant. :)

Re: Lake Run Brown Trout Highlights from 2012 HD Video

Dan is partially correct. But, yes these fish were unharmed. Obviously, studying Ichthyology, fish biology and as a guide I would never let anything happen to these fish. Thanks for all your...

Re: Lake Run Brown Trout Highlights from 2012 HD Video

I will try to be as blunt but courteous as possible. Fred, these fish were caught netted, quickly photoed/videoed and released unharmed. I run into this rarely but some people are proponents and...
