could be the hair poppers are to big and air resistant. or you leader is to long or light. does it cast ok with out the fly ?

Got to remember the wooly bugger was invented back when fast rods were not around !
4' tippet is to long to cast a fly like that, sounds like you are getting a hinge effect.

I remember using some flicker spinners when I first start to fly fish in the 60's. Might even have a few yet in one of the old boxes in closet. They worked great for pan fish and bass.

lots of rain and ice, then 3" of snow. pine went from 100 feet wide to 1/2 mile wide. Have some flooding in back yard but none in my coops this time...

the rod does not need to be overlined, the person casting needs to learn to cast that rod. Rods are tested before they go out on the market, if its designed for a certain line then it should cast...

There is at least 6" of ice over the whole creek here and top to bottom ice on the tribs. The lakes have 12 to 18" of ice. I won't see water till June I think..

took me almost 6 months but they had to break my ribs to do the job. had 5 by passes (have 11 stents and 4 balloons too) and was painful for a year. could lift more than 10 lbs too. good luck on it....

make a holder for it (tube type) out of wood to act as a base, for bees wax stick it to your lamp or magnifying glass. for wetting you are on your own !

most any glass rod or bamboo's are a good choice in full flex. glass/grafite combo too. a grafite to me just is not a full flex
