Re: Bozeman MT Pre runoff ideas?

I'm not into naming names, but any smaller tributary can be fun that time of year. If you're willing and able to hike/snowshoe into some of the smaller places, you're likely to find fish that...

Re: Hank Patterson CuttyRainBrown decal

Mildly amusing at times. I certainly don't get the hysteria.

Re: Nymphing without an indicator

Works best when you can cast as close to straight upstream as possible. If you can do that, then it's really quite simple. Cast upstream, with an appropriate amount of weight on your leader, and...

Re: Dutchy going to fish; Colorado or Montana?

Re: Dutchy going to fish; Colorado or Montana?

You'll find the Flathead isn't near as quiet as you'd think, especially in the wilderness portion.

Re: Fishing pack for tall people

I tend to hike 8-10 miles round trip each day I fish, so I'm looking for a bigger backpack that I can keep food/water/water filter/rain jacket/etc. in when I'm 5 miles from the truck.

Fishing pack for tall people

I'm looking for a new backpack/chestpack combo, as my current William Joseph setup is starting to give out. The problem is that I'm 6'4". My current pack is really just too short for me and rides...

Where to go in 2016

2015 was a pretty awesome year for fishing. I hit up a remove desert canyon for redband trout in March, snowshoed 6 miles into the mountains in April to catch cutthroats in 0 weather, bushwhacked...

Bighorn - December/January - Cast & Blast?

Anybody ever done a cast & blast on the Bighorn river?

Or, if not, how crowded is the river going to be on a weekend in December/January? I'm concerned about the safety of a duck/goose hunt if...

Re: What weight Fly Rod

If you like streamers, get a 5 weight. If you don't often throw streamers, I'd go with a 9' - 9.5' 4 weight for the rivers you described. It's long enough that you can cover a lot of water on the...

Hard to pin it down to just one.

Started the year off with a hike into an awesome canyon, but the fishing was just meh.

That oil has extremely high parrafin content. They have to transport it in heated trailers to keep it liquid. Should turn solid immediately upon contact with river and be relatively easy to clean...

Re: I'm new

Those suggesting joining a fly fishing club have obviously never been to Cut Bank, Montana.

Some of the smaller streams to the west/southwest of you would be great places to start flyfishing.
