Nice spider and they will certainly catch. For me though i prefer my Spiders with about a turn and a half of hackle.

What hook is the #14 grey? Seems to be quite a wide gape

once upon a time in the UK, you could get hold of tubular separators which were designed for spacing wall tiles correctly. They were absolutely perfect for making small tubes... the ear bug technique...
