Re: Abel Trout or Creek?

I believe the hardy tr and creek are the basically the same reel mechanically. I have a TR1 use on short 4wt's. I like the way it looks more so then the creek. I usually fish it on a 7'11 4wt sage...

Re: New Sage Line Up for 2013

You fish with what you enjoy casting. There is not a whole lot of performance to push in rods. If making rods faster and stiffer is pushing performance, than OK. I don't need to throw 100 ft of...

Re: New Sage Line Up for 2013

I will say this about Sage, if you like one of their rods buy them up because chances are you are not going to like the next one. I fish Winstons mostly but have two sage LL's, the 7'11 4wt and the...

Re: Do I need a 2wt?

Even in NJ i fish a 6'6 4wt old Orvis HLS for small wild brookies and browns. The only rod lighter than a 4wt i fish is my Winston IM6 8'6 3wt. But that rod is more for dry fly fishing the sulphur...

Re: Would you have 2 rods?? question for you all

If you enjoy it, keep it. I have a dozen or so rods and have only sold two. One was a TFO Finesse which i hated, and one was a 2 piece 8wt that i had not fished in a decade. If you continue on...

Re: Need a trout stream

The Toms is the only thing i can think of. It is a TCA and has plenty of brookies that are stocked. Other than that you are going to have to do some driving. Most of the quality water is at least...

Re: Ethics question

I didn't read this whole thread but my answer is simple. Fishing is a blood sport, their is mortality regardless of how gentle we are. We try and minimize it, but if you want total survival stop...

Re: 4wt 8'6" or 9'

The Savage is one of, if not my favorite east coast stream. If I was in school at WVU again or lived near it i would be on the lookout for a Winston 10' IM6 on ebay. That rod would be a dream on...

Re: Best reel for Winston 8' 4wt tmf ?

I use an Abel TR1 on 4wts of 8' or shorter. I am looking at TR2 in olive for 8'6or longer. I think they look good on the classic rods. I have never fished the TMF but have a few IM6's and the TR...

Re: Winston GVX on sale everywhere

My 9' 4wt just arrived yesterday from MRFC. I don't think there is a better deal out there for 300. If it is anything like the 8'10 graphite homewaters rod, it is not fast like a fast sage but...
