Re: The Driftless gang has been pretty quiet, anybody having any success?

Went out yesterday (NE Iowa). Had a great day with 20+ trout caught. Water was a bit stained allowing me to throw some small leech patterns down an across without being seen. Small nymphs (size...

Looking for a 4wt, 8'6" rod. Currently use a Winston 4wt, 7'6" and want something longer for nymphing. Just tried a Scott G2 4wt, 8'8" that I found to have the ideal action for me. Which St. Croix...

Targeting "Brookies"

You read about people on this forum doing this but how exactly do you target brook trout vs rainbow or browns? Are some more likely to lie in deeper pools and others along banks/undercuts?

Getting weights to stay

Having a difficult time keeping my tiny weights (0.2g or less) to not slide down my tippet or off the tippet completely. Do any of you wrap the tippet around the weight to effectively lock it into...

Smith Optics vs Costa Del Mar

Another vote for the 580 glass from Costa. Received my pair with my Rx a few months ago. It's not light, took a while to get used to the slight increase in weight, but the clarity is remarkable.

I...

Bauer MacKenzie CFX vs Galvan Torque

I love my CFX in my 6wt, but I also have a Torque for my 4wt. All things being equal, I just love my Galvan a touch more.

Re: Reels locking up

Nope. Fishing for trout in the Driftless area, I use little backing on my reel. The lock isn't from line stacking up... Thanks though!

Reels locking up

Among my reels, only my Galvan Torque has not had this happen once. I've recently purchased an Abel Trout reel and a Bauer CFX and both have had the reel "lock up" when I would attempt to pull line...
