Re: First day out guiding

I have only been on one guided trip, but I thought I really respected my guide for telling me this at the beginning of the day: "I can't guarantee you will catch anything, but I can guarantee you...

Re: Iowa City Area

There is a lot going on in terms of music/arts. Iowa City is a University town, Cedar Rapids a factory town and they both have their strong points. I love the Pedestrian Mall in Iowa City and the...

Re: Modified boot for wading

The first time I went wading I took an old pair of work boots, glued some carpet to the bottom, and put hex head sheet metal screws in the soles. They were really heavy, and by the end of the day...

Re: Fly Box Frustrations, anyone have them?

I recently bought a midge assortment from flyshack that came in a box with compartments, but I ended up sticking them in foam because they are so tiny. I can imagine my big clumsy fingers trying to...

I had a pair of those that were my dad's Vietnam jungle uniform, they were great. I have several pairs of the regular summer 50/50 and I wear them all the time, all year round. Even the desert camo...

Re: Fly Box Frustrations, anyone have them?

Re: Fly Box Frustrations, anyone have them?

I see that you guys have a lot of flies not stuck in foam. What flies are ok to put into compartmented boxes and which ones need to be in foam?

Re: BDU Trousers under waders?

I saw that when I posted the link. In the store the signage said "nylon" waders. I thought they seemed heavy for just nylon. I will try them and see how it works. I don't know how much I will...

Re: Other Places Similar To What I Have Now?

How is the economy in Des Moines? I make it there a few times a year and it seems to do pretty well, but I am sure living there would give a different picture.
