I have a 9' 6 wt XP that likes a line that is 1/2 line size heavy. I currently have a SA Mastery GPX on it and it loads well.

WTB: 7 wt reel

I am looking for a mid-priced reel that will serve as a home for a DT-6 line. Given that most reels are "sized" for WF lines, I presume that I will want a "7 wt reel" to accommodate the DT-6 and at...

Re: TT Line info/reviews ?

If you are not willing to shell out $80 to try a TT, you might consider trying the SA Mastery VPT, which is now on sale for <$40. This line has two contiguous front tapers that extend from the tip...

Re: NRX LP or standard NRX

The 2013 George Anderson 5 wt Shootout praises the NRX LP, but pans the original NRX as "stiff...heavy...clunker." They imply that Rajeff recognized this and went back to the drawing board to make a...

Re: Line for NRX-LP 4wt?

I have a true 4 wt DT on my NRX-LP and it loads and fishes great. This rod is not one of the fast action rods, and I think that a heavy 4 wt (e.g., GPX) would be too much for the rod.

Hardy Warranty Registration

I just purchased a Hardy Zenith rod, and I can't seem to reach the online registration site to register the warranty. I'm guessing that this is because the new owners closed the North American branch...

The e-mail must have miscarried somehow. At any rate, I got your PM and we can tell the other forum members that the line is spoken for.

Re: Wanted Decent 4WT floating line

Please let me know if you want the line. I want to give you first chance on it, but I'm getting lots of interest from other folks on the forum who want it if you don't.

If I don't hear from you...

Re: Wanted Decent 4WT floating line

I have a brand new Airflo Ridge Supple Tactical WF4F line that I would sell for $25 shipped. It is a pale yellow color, with welded loops on both ends. I prefer DT lines, so I probably won't ever use...

Re: Question about rod and reel cases

Excellent question, and I have a clear answer based on painful personal experience. I purchased rod/reel cases about 10 years ago before the dividers were commonly available. Using these early...

Re: PVC vs Polyurethane

I am confused by your use of "poly". PVC (poly vinylchloride) or polyurethane? "PTE" is also confusing to me. Can you explain this terminology, please?

Thanks.

PVC vs Polyurethane

I am confused about the relative merits of these two fly line coatings. My limited understanding is as follows:

PVC is what line companies in the US have used and what most of us are used to.

Re: Shortening a Fly Line

I routinely cut off some of my running line in order to 1) fit a line on a smaller, lighter reel, or 2) make room for "enough" backing. I rarely cast more than 60 feet, especially with my lighter...

Re: Lamson Speedster for life?

I guess that I am in the minority here, but I have found that Lamson's lighter weight reels are a bit fragile. By that I mean that they ding and dent easily, probably because the light weight has...
