Re: Orvis Dropper Rig Fly Box or Clif Outdoors The Deuce

Same idea as the Deuce but smaller. Nice. I wish I'd thought of that..

Re: Orvis Dropper Rig Fly Box or Clif Outdoors The Deuce

The Duece. It packs in a shorter package and you can store many different lengths/setups. I think I have around a dozen on mine.

Re: Dropper Hopper rig

You don't need to fish a hopper.. My favorite is an Elk Hair Caddis with a BH Hare's Ear dropper. Second favorite is a BWO with an RS2 dropper. I tie them into the bend of the hook as well. You just...

Re: Bear Creek

Thanks for the report. Bear Creek was my local stream for 2 1/2 decades. We left last Oct 1 to find a new home, so didn't get to see the flooding aftermath. Please continue the reports.

Re: Stream rules: rant content... beware.

I've made remarks like "it's a big river" "please don't spook the fish", etc., but my most effective response to being rudely crowded is to leave. And wade through the middle of the pool on my way...

Re: Frustrated Evening

RS2, fished as a sub-surface dropper behind the dry. Start at 20, go smaller until it works. It sounds like they were chasing emergers, not sipping dries.

Re: How do yall hold your tippet spools?

I keep them in a vest pocket, clipped together as they're designed to be. I'm not a fan of gear/stuff dangling outside waiting to catch on the brush. My net does enough of that. I carry spools of 5 6...

Re: Indicators for nymphing.

Use an Elk Hair Caddis, a Humpy, a hopper, etc., and tie the nymph into the bend of the hook. Or one of the foam stick-on indicators. None of them leave a bend in your leader...:D

Re: Dear God, the NE tiers of States are about to get pounded with more snow.

The water temp In my local stream yesterday was 36. 3+ feet of snow to get to the water. I should have brought snowshoes instead of a fly rod. More snow coming today/tomorrow.

Re: hows this inventory?

It depends on where you're fishing, locals should be able to help. To repeat what's already been posted, my largest fish have generally been caught on the smallest flies. When they're not taking, go...

Re: New to fly fishing. CT

Fishing in the Naugatuck river.... When I was growing up in that area the Naugatuck was so polluted you wouldn't even want to walk near it, never mind fish in it. Nothing could live in it anyway....
