Looks real nasty. Hope you heal quickly and get back to the things you enjoy - just don't push it.

On flatwater when there is no wind you can stand and cast but as mentioned previously you need to be aware of yourself when setting the hook. You should not stand in moving water but casting from a...

Re: St. Croix Imperial vs. Avid

I have an 8' 3 wt Avid that is 10 yrs old and a 8.5' 5/6 wt Imperial that is 20 yrs old. I use the Avid for dries or light nymphs and the 5/6 Imperial for everything else. The Imperial works great...

Re: On the idea that using UL fly rods demonstrates "expertise"

I didn't pick up a fly rod until the age most fly rodders had attained a modicum of expertise, fished a couple of times and set it aside for a couple decades and took it up again a couple of years...

I have 3 Ross Gunnison reels that I bought in the mid '90s and I like them very much. They look great and work flawlessly. I would suggest that the Ross Reels are a mid level reel. Last year Abel...

Re: Glass Rod

Rock, I think the Orvis rods are specifically 7' for a 3 weight, 7 1/2' for a 4 weight and 8' for a 5 weight. Scotts 4 weight is 7'7" with a couple of 3 weights: one at 6'6" and one at 7'.

Re: Full eclips of the moon tonight!

Lunar eclipses come in pairs and this round is a quad over the next 18 months. I think it is October 2014, April 2015 and September 2015.
